Alfine A688

The A688 is Alfine's chair for a bigger household: a 4D+3D dual-core mechanism on an SL track, a 380 lb weight limit and a height range of about 5'0" to 6'4". Delivery is the one thing to settle first, because Alfine does not state a shipping-box size. Ask the seller for the carton dimensions before you plan the route inside.

Who it fits, and who should look elsewhere

A good fit if

  • Your tallest user is about 6'4" or shorter and your shortest is about 5'0" or taller; confirm either end with the seller.
  • Your heaviest user stays under 380 lb.
  • You want a 4D+3D dual-core mechanism on an SL track, with heat, airbags and a three-year warranty.

Look elsewhere if

  • Your tallest user is well over 6'4"; the rating stops there.
  • Your heaviest user is over 380 lb.
  • You need the delivery measured from a stated carton size before you buy.

Three things to check first

!
Get the carton size

Ask the seller for the packed carton dimensions, then measure every doorway and turn on the way to the room.

!
Ask what you assemble

The A688 does not state what the buyer attaches. Ask the seller what arrives built and how many people are needed to move it.

!
Settle the return terms

Ask the seller for the return window, who pays return shipping and whether the original packaging is required.
